Italian Renaissance decoration

Fresco ceiling in Verona, Italy
I'm pretty obsessed with pattern. I scour the Textile Blog and Owen Jones' Grammar of Ornament for inspiration, photograph patterns wherever I go, and hoard whatever scraps I find. Lately, I've been working with my photos of Italian Renaissance ceilings and wall paintings. All of these are from Florence with the exception of the ceiling from Verona, shown above.

  1. I noticed that Italian decoration has earthly tones. The interior designs of the Italian Renaissance, a time period spanning from the 14th century to the 16th century, offers a study in symmetry, color application and innovative artistry.
